"We give world-changing startups and entrepreneurs the opportunity to RAISE FUNDS with our apparel and accessories.

We use consistent rewards and brand recognition to give innovative teams an EQUAL PLAYING FIELD and backers a QUALITY RETURN that they can count on.

Through CROWD PARTICIPATION, we choose teams to endorse with collaborative pieces that are then sold as rewards for investment towards project goals.

We are a patron-sourced platform for entrepreneurship."

A. Project Scope

BETTER will be responsible for the production (filming and editing) of various Entrepreneur interviews centered around the Self Made's Brand Story theme of  Day 1

Self.Made
Brand Story

The first steps of a new entrepreneur’s journey are the most exciting ones – and also the scariest.
Day one is full of dreams, energy, confidence, passion, big ideas and optimism - but often accompanied by a heavy dose of nerves, doubt and fear of the unknown. The journey they are starting is guaranteed to be grueling - and most people turn back when they see how risky, uncertain and scary it will be.
While it seems that everyone wants to live the entrepreneur’s dream – very few people actually take the first step. And like any major expedition, it’s nearly impossible for anyone to survive the climb alone.
It takes a tribe - from day one, when the new entrepreneur starts out with a small circle of friends and family behind them. They provide the confidence, support and initial push that gets them started while helping ensure that the entrepreneur’s reserves of energy, passion and courage don’t wane. Expanding this tight circle of trust into a quickly growing, active tribe of personally invested backers, investors, coaches, and partners available to help them through every challenge and obstacle is one of the secrets to getting through the pre-seed stage.
And while it has never been easier to access the tools, partners and technologies necessary to start a company, it’s still hard to access pre-seed capital. Most entrepreneurs don’t have a rich uncle, access to angel investors, or the fundraising savvy to succeed on crowdfunding platforms - like Kickstarter - that aren’t free.
After living through this experience – Kori McNeill + Justin Hillery founded Self.Made to democratize the way pre-seed capital is raised.
The Self.Made platform turns the entrepreneur’s growing network into a powerful tribe of backers using short, easy-to-produce video content and custom lifestyle clothing that their tribe can purchase and proudly wear as a badge of support.
With the launch of Self.Made’s new Tribal CommerceTM (T-Com) platform, Kori + Justin will make it easier for more people to become entrepreneurs, and to build the support system that helps them stay passionate, courageous and energetic throughout the journey.

Required Hours

We are currently in the pre-production phase and are ready to move forward with production.  Per our analysis, we believe our involvement will take 80 hours overall (production and post-production phases).  Additionally, we will schedule a “Progress” meeting two weeks after the film date.

Pre-Production

During the pre-production phase BETTER will prepare the setting / storyboard for filming based on the location and rental equipment.  BETTER will also create the interview questions.

concept & treatment development

For aesthetically pleasing purposes the goal of the treatment is to create an organic conversation that uniquely captures the main points of an interview within a modern residential environment.  There will be two cameras, one will be static / stationary from a wide angle perspective capturing the interview head on.  While the second camera will be capturing b-roll from various angles.  This will be used to give the overall interview more emotion by capturing facial expressions, fashion details, interior design, and more.

Interview Questions

Bryant Law of BETTER performed a mock interview with Justin Hillery of Self.Made.  Below are some of the questions (in no specific order) that are the basis of the interviews.  The questions are creative, though provoking, and keeps an open ended conversation while allowing all the standard interview points to be touched uponSome of the questions may not be asked literally as written, instead they will be molded around who is being interviewed at the moment.  Not only will there be questions but there will also be frames of thought for subtly guiding the conversation to extract the most raw reactions from the interviewee without having to ask questions.  Allowing them to search internally and answer questions we may have not thought of.

(If a bullet point below does not end with a question mark it is a frame of thought)

  • What’s your name, where are you from, how young are you?
  • How was life growing up?How did this influence you and shape who you are today?
  • Has your back ever been against the wall?
  • How was your idea conceived?what inspired it who has been apart of it?
